Great Game This review Parent Written by Dianeweb June 24, Players can investigate mutilated corpses. Fairly average combat. Mild hand to hand, some blood in shootings. Music makes sequences more intense. Sex: 3. Bloody, but not too graphic otherwise. Some talk of rape. Other references to sex. Main character cheats on his wife, nothing shone.
Aftereffects of strong drugs, such as morphine. Morphine shipment discussed, nothing shone. Weed is shone. Writing is top notch, as well as its characters and gameplay. Must-buy for hardcore gamers. Flawed central character, but at the end of the day, he does the right things.
Adult Written by MrWatson June 18, Watson's Perspective L. Noire is a game for mature players. Rockstar Games has dived into the dark world of crime in the 40's and 50's, and it isn't pretty. That said, it's one of the best games I've ever played. You play an investigator in the L. Violence: moderate to strong. You'll do a lot of running around and shooting from a third person perspective, but it's not really the focus of the game.
You'll see some blood, and the most noticeable aspects are a rather realistic effect that approximates the appearance of a bullet wound on characters who have been shot, and the violence done to the bodies that you examine as part of the investigations one scene features a family that has been burned alive in their home.
Language: strong. You'd be hard-pressed to find a developer that puts more language in their games than Rockstar. They never shy away from portraying the dark side of things. Most games with a lot of foul language assume everyone uses it, but in this game, it's much more realistic. It's not in some characters nature to curse, so they don't.
But if someone does, you can assume they know every expletive in the book as well as some creative derivations. Sex: Strong. There is a lot of innuendo here as well as strait up discussion of the topic, and several cases relate to sexual crimes of one kind or another. Visually, there are several cases involving women found murdered without any clothing. The nudity is presented maturely, and the characters are not sexualized in any way. It's your job to deal with it, and that's what you do.
Drugs and Drinking: Strong. A major plot line involves drugs, as well as a number of other cases. It's all here. Despite all of the mature themes, and at times because of them, Rockstar is able to tell a truly engaging noire story. As soon as I launched the game, I was immediately hooked by the mood. Few games have engaged me so much, and handled such mature themes so well.
Too often, games are labelled "mature" for their juvenile and inappropriate depictions of these things. Noire takes those themes and presents them just as you'd expect a professional detective to deal with them--and because of that, Rockstar was able to craft one of the most believable stories I've ever found in a game.
For anyone mature enough to handle the admittedly very mature topics in this game, it is absolutely worth it. L a noire Positive messages: crime does not pay. Role models: the main character is a policeman who does the right thing.
Violence: the gun fights are few and far between, but there is a lot of blood, especially in the crime scenes. However, the game can be played in black and white, which would soften the blow. Sex: I have played a lot of this game and have not yet seen a nude corpse.
A small reference to prostitutes near the start and possibly some sexual references. Drinking: a few cases take place outside a bar, and one victim was drunk, but the main character doesn't drink or smoke. A few references to drug busts. Privacy: with no real online features other than checking others scores, no problem here.
Great game. Adult Written by GregH94 May 6, Excellent game Excellent game, one of the best I've played in a while, but I'd recommend it for adult gamers only. Some of the crime scenes are very unpleasant. Adult Written by Novelist Anonymous January 22, Despite this success, there has yet to be a sequel made to this landmark game, which has left many fans puzzled.
There have been a few ports of the game, including a recent shortened VR title called L. So why is L. Noire more expensive on Nintendo Switch for a physical version? According to US Gamer, it comes down to the cost of producing Switch cartridges; these are apparently more expensive to produce than discs, thus, the price difference. We have followed up with Rockstar in an attempt to get more details.
Without side-quests, DLC. The main L. Noire story lasts 25 to 30 hours, Rockstar has revealed.
