West side with all the offices and the right side with full commercial. To large malls Westfield and Chase in one suburb proves the prosperity and developed the area is. The restaurant choices literally include everything. You can easily spend you're entire day here. In terms of living here I would say it's great for a person who likes to be surrounded by people also if you like to buy groceries daily. Very convenient for buying things.
But for people who enjoy quiet areas or with less people it might not be the best. The housing prices are quite high especially the apartment units surrounding the station. I assume it's due to the large amount of foreign investors purchasing property. Sydney metro also connects to Chatswood which even increases more human flow. Train ride is just 25min away from the Sydney CBD. The demand for all properties in the area is intense and rightly so given the array of lifestyle options available.
Boasting more than 20 hectares of retail shopping along with a vibrant social scene, Chatswood is a suburb you will absolutely love to live in. Renowned for its diverse cultural identity with more than a third of residents claiming Chinese or Korean ancestry, benefits greatly from all of its international influences. From trendy fashion boutiques through to high-end jewellers, Chatswood offers something for everyone and the newly constructed concourse has fast become the areas cultural hub.
I love chatswoods. If you like dirty, expensive and overcrowded places filled with rude people, this is the place for you. Literally the most horrible suburb I've lived in. If you're a family newly arriving in Australia, look elsewhere. This place is not as advertised and local schools aren't what they used to be.
I'm sure you are biased against some groups of people here. You need to go out of your own little world to see what's Asian countries are like. They are the most harmless good hearted ppl out there, they don't pretend to be polite and selfish inside like some ppl. Since when is giving a review about a place against a "group of people"? As expat, the review we made is to help other families avoid landing in a bad place. I don't understand how you can be so sure that it's about "asian" people?
Perhaps you're projecting. Furthermore, your point about visiting asia and the world is irrelevant, as this is a comment about Chatswood, period. You may not like the comment, buts my own experience. PS I'm Asian and lived in multiple continents. So much for "going out of your little world".
Clearly, you're the one attacking others with your statement "they don't pretend to be polite and selfish inside like some ppl.
Ainee, I see your comment as bullying and trying to intimidate people so they don't comment their personal truth about a suburb. I've dealt with a good number of real estate agents in the area that were working in bad faith, falsely representing the area and literally trying to extort you for money. And no, i'm not talking about just a specific group of people.
Are you a real-estate agent trying to wrongly represent the area? And by the way, I've worked and traveled in many countries, including Asia and South-East Asia for your information. All of your presumptions were wrong, and your statement pretty shameful. Chatswood is in effect a double-barrelled name, in honour of Chat Charlotte Hartnett, the wife of district pioneer and former Mayor of Willoughby, Richard Hartnett, and the original wooded nature of the area.
Chatswood is located approximately 9 kms from the Sydney CBD and continues to be a very popular residential area as well as an expanding commercial hub, producing a consistently growing population of 13, according to the census. With both the Westfield and Chatswood Chase shopping centres, shopping and entertainment options are never hard to find!
What I love most about Chatswood though is the community. The people you find working and living in Chatswood are some of the friendliest in the world, which is really what makes this suburb a great choice for your next property purchase. Chatswood is a very World Class Suburb in Sydney! Chatswood is my 3rd Preference for living in Sydney! Having been a devotee of shopping at Chatswood for over 20 years and watching it grow and expand, it was a lovely surprise to be an "accidental tourist" and stumble across a little organic market held in Chatswood Public School on Saturdays.
It was a decision I have never regretted. Sure it may be a tad more expensive, but it is chemical and pesticide free produce and it lasted me for at least 2 weeks.
You can definitely taste the difference and since finding this little Saturday "nook", I try to get back there as often as possible if nothing else than to take time out of an otherwise frantic world.
Thoroughly recommend it, don't be put off by the size cause it just means you don't have to compete with everyone for the same things. Chatswood Public School Saturdays 8am - 1pm. I lived in Chatswood for 12 months and wouldn't choose to live there again mainly because of the congestion. It can take 45 just to pick up a pizza if you drive on the weekend. Housing is very over priced. Public transport is good and I nearly always felt safe. It may help to speak Mandarin which suited me as I love Asian culture but it grated on my wife occasionally.
Shopping is good although the Chase is a bit of a white elephant. Chatswood is a great cosmopolitan place.
